Your photos

Editing, auto-enhance (face detection), image and video export and bulk compare all run on your device, in your browser. Photos you only edit and export are never uploaded to us.

Photos are uploaded only when you choose to save a project to your library, upload a logo to your brand kit, or create a share link. Saved photos and logos are private to your account. For a share link we upload rendered copies of the before and after images (with labels), which anyone with the link can view. Your original photos are not published.

What we collect

Depending on how you use Photo Compare, we process:

• Account data: your email address, and your name and profile picture if you sign in with Google.
• Content: saved projects, photos, templates, brand kit settings and logo, and share links with a view count (we count views, not who viewed).
• Billing data: your plan and subscription status. Payment details are handled by Stripe; we never see your full card number.
• Usage analytics, only if you accept cookies: which features are used (for example “export completed”), device and browser type, and approximate location.
• Technical logs: IP address and browser details in our hosting provider’s server logs, used for security and to deliver the site.

Why and on what basis

• To provide the service and your account (performance of a contract).
• To bill subscriptions and meet tax obligations (contract and legal obligation).
• To keep the service secure and working (legitimate interest).
• To understand which features people use, so we can improve them (your consent, which you can withdraw at any time).

Cookies and local storage

We use a few strictly necessary cookies to keep you signed in. Your cookie choice and any unsaved editor draft are kept in your browser’s storage.

Analytics cookies (_ga and _ga_*) are only set after you click Accept. If you decline, Google Analytics is not loaded at all. You can change your choice at any time with Cookie settings at the bottom of the page; withdrawing consent deletes these cookies. Embedded sliders on other websites never show a banner and do not set analytics cookies without consent.

Who we share data with

We do not sell your data. We use these service providers, under data processing agreements:

• Supabase: database, sign-in and file storage, hosted in the EU.
• Stripe: payments and subscription management.
• Google: sign in with Google (if you use it), and Google Analytics for Firebase (only with your consent).
• Our hosting provider, which serves the website.

International transfers

Your account data and photos are stored in the EU. Stripe and Google may process data in the United States. Those transfers are covered by the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses.

How long we keep data

• Projects, photos and logos: until you delete them or your account. Deleting your account removes them, your share links and your Stripe customer record immediately.
• Share links: until you delete the link or your account (deleting a project keeps its link).
• Account data: until you delete your account.
• Billing records: 7 years, as required by Dutch tax law.
• Analytics: 2 months, then deleted by Google.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you can ask for access to, correction or deletion of your personal data, ask us to restrict or stop processing it, and receive it in a portable format. You can withdraw consent at any time without affecting earlier processing. You can delete your account and everything in it at any time with Delete account in the account menu. For other requests, email us from the address on your account.

You can also lodge a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens) or your local supervisory authority.

Children

Photo Compare is not intended for children under 16.

Changes

If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the date above and, where appropriate, let you know by email or in the app.
